Souvenir of a Canon
2024, 10′ – for harpsichord
dedicated to Tom Johnson and Esther Ferrer

A work of tangled, superimposed canons for harpsichord in quarter-comma meantone, attempting to find any poetry which may appear amidst the mechanics of the form.

The above recording is myself playing on a mid-18th century English spinet made by John Harris. Many, many thanks to Curtis Berak for allowing me to play that extraordinary instrument.
